- Memorial services for Raycene [Coates]Wyly, 91, of Tyler, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Pamela Leach officiating.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Burks-Walker-Tippit Funeral Home in Tyler.
Mrs. Wyly died on June 28, 2009, in Kilgore. She was born on Aug. 18, 1917, in Kerens. She moved to Tyler after high school to attend Tyler Commercial College. She married her late husband, Graham Wyly, in 1938, and was married 61 years. Mr. and Mrs. Wyly ran The Booterie in downtown Tyler for 42 years, where Mrs. Wyly was also the store's bookkeeper and front counter clerk. They attended First Presbyterian Church since 1939, and were charter members of the adult Presbyweds Sunday school class. Mrs. Wyly taught the older ladies' Sunday school class, sang in the choir and was a member of Circle One of Presbyterian Women for many years.
Mrs. Wyly was preceded in death by her husband, Graham Wyly; father, Ray Coates; mother, Dulcena McCluney; and brothers, Howard Coates and Donovan Coates.
She is survived by daughter and son-law, Bettye Wyly Swanson and Tommy Swanson of Liberty City; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Sylvia Wyly of Tyler; son, Jim Wyly of Austin; sister, Gypsy Belew of Agua Dulce, Calif.; sister-in-law, Joyce Hunt of Van Nuys, Calif.; grandchildren, Scott and Jody Lancaster, James and Paula Lancaster, Trista Wyly and Kevin Wyly; step-grandchildren, Sandra Swanson Dubois and Clarence Dubois, and Carla Swanson Riggs; nieces and nephews, Tandy Zorba, Ray Coates, Billy Joe Coates, Connie French, Sara Harris, Bill Wyly and Matthew Hunt; four great-grandchildren; six step- great- grandchildren; and four step- great- great- grandchildren.
