- John W. Wassell, 88, of Corsicana and Dallas died in Dallas Sept. 24, 2003.
Born Nov. 22, 1914 to Heverington Eugene Wassell and Lila Aurora McClellan Wassell. Preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James McClellan Wassell and the late Kathryn Anderson Wassell; his grandparents, Judge John Jacob McClellan and Lila Gertrude Kerr McClellan.
He is survived by his wife, Dee Marsden Wassell of Dallas; son Thomas Eugene Wassell of Austin; grandchildren John Evan Wassell and Alexandra Wassell of Austin; his sister Patricia Wassell Kirby of San Antonio; his sister-in-law Mary Wassell, wife of the late James McClellan Wassell who resides in Plano; niece Patsy Derby Payne-Beggs, husband Jim of San Antonio; grandniece Kathy Payne Thomas, husband Sam; great-grandnieces Clara Lee and Grace McClellan Thomas; grandniece Mary Patricia Payne, all of Houston; grandnephew Thomas Julius Payne of Austin; also, nieces Lila Kay Wassell Jackson, husband Don, and grandniece Meredith Jackson Hallman, all of Arlington; Carol Ann Wassell Betty, husband John, of Richardson; and grandnephew Kerry Talbot, wife Jan, of McKinney; nephew J.M. (Bud) Wassell, wife Jeni of College Station; grandniece Krista Wassell Price, husband Mike, and great-grandnephews Christopher and Matthew Price and grandniece Amy Kathryn Price, all of Cleveland, Ohio.
John received his degree in Architecture from the University of Texas-Austin. He also served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant Commander.
Services were held Sept. 26, 2003 at Restland's Wildwood Chapel.
