Address:
Knoxville Memorial Park- Find a Grave contributor sent the following information regarding a memorial on that site that claims that Nicholas Bartlett was buried in Highland Park Memorial West in Knoxville.
"Cemetery office has no record of this person.
They also reported, specifically:
This is the wrong cemetery. I visited Knoxville Memorial Park and found it to be Highland Park Memorial West (whoever put the cemetery on find-a-grave short cut the name.)Highland Park West was not founded until the early 1970's. From what little research I did, I'd guess Bartlett is buried somewhere along the Blount County line which is ten or so miles south of this site. Blount County records are some of the best in TN. But chances are he is lost to history.

Notes - Nicholas and Mary were married in Virginia and first settled in Rockingham County, Virginia. In the fall of 1784 the y left the Greenbrier colony (then in Rockingham County) with their six children and moved to Tennessee, settling a few miles south of Knoxville. This was the area that was then in what was called the state of Franklin, having once been part of North Carolina and then was on the frontier and subject to trouble with the Cherokee. In 1785 he built a grist mill on Stock Creek in what was known as Greene County and in 1792 became Knox County. Soon the mill was fortified to provide safety from the Indian attacks for settlers in the vicinity. Blount County was created from Knox County south of Knoxville in 1795 with "Bartlett's Station" lying on the county line. Nicholas owned a large amount of land and gave much of it to his children before his death. His will took care of only those children who had not received gifts of land from him while he was alive. Nicholas was associated closely with Jeremiah Pearce in Virginia. Four Bartlett daughters married Pearce men, apparently three of them were brothers and one a cousin.
