1429 Grover Cleveland McRee, Sr. was born in Stewart County, Georgia. He moved to Terrell County with his parents in 1896. He attended Gordon Military Institute, at Barnsville, Georgia, playing football with the team that won the championship of the South. After graduation he returned home to farm with his parents. Here he met Dola Calhoun, who was living with a relative, her aunt, Mrs. Elizabeth Joines Rioden, and working in Mr. Will Rioden's wholesale grocery store. They were married in her hometown, Wadley, Georgia.

Their first home was in Cuthbert, Georgia where Grover was engaged in the grocery business. Grover Cleveland, Jr. was born December 1, 1914.

He built their family home in Terrill County that now stands on the G.C. McRee farm on land that was given to him by his father. Here he began to farm. In 1918, a second son, James Edwin was born September 15.

In 1922 he became employed with the Central of Georgia Railroad and moved his family to Macon, Georgia. Here a third son, Jack Calhoun, was born on August 23, 1923

Since Grover was a land owner in Terrell County, Georgia, the love of the land brought him back to his home place in 1924. His devotion to his family and farm were characteristic traits. After settling down with his family this time, they became active in their church, respecting all it stood for. His sons were educated in the public schools and participated in sports. All three served proudly in World War II.

In 1933 his wife of 21 years, Dola, became ill, and after a brief illness, died Jun 30, 1933 and was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Her unselfish devotion to her family was unexcelled.

In 1943 Grover married a second time to Mae Chambless of Parrot, Georgia. There were no children to this union. He died on May 27, 1955, and was buried beside his first wife, Dola.
