"Mozell was the 2nd wife of U.S. Army Air Forces SGT Clyde Qualls (Oklahoma), who served Our country during World War II and was the son of Arthur Lee Qualls and Minnie Almeda.

Mozell was 1st married to James Martin Pickle, son of Jesse Robert Pickle and Annie D. Bradley.

4832 Senator Josiah Sugg was born April 5, 1821 in Farmville, Pitt County, NC, the son of Lemuel and Nancy Hardy. His great grandmother was Elizabeth Harrison of Berkeley Plantation fame, which linked him as ancestor to several United States Presidents, and other politicians. Not much is known of his early life. He seems to be a man of wealth and esteem in the county as of the 1850 Census, age 29 his real estate was worth $1,110 and owned 21 slaves and by the 1860 Census, age 39, his value of real estate was $4,650, Value of personal estate $25,000, as well as he owned 24 Slaves. He was married twice, first Mary Elizabeth Harper, second Sarah Williams Pridgen, and had a total of 9 children. He served in the 41st Congress 1870, and as Justice of the peace, Hookerton, NC in 1873. He was elected North Carolina Democratic Senator 1874 to 1875 for Greene & Lenoir Counties. He passed on reelection of his 2nd term due to poor health and died December 20, 1876. He was buried in the family cemetery on the Sugg Farm, Snow Hill, NC.

David Loop, 73, Pioneer Rice Citizen, Dies

CORSICANA, Texas. Sept. 16. - Funeral services for David Marion Loop, 73, of Rice, pioneer Navarro County citizen and merchant, will be held in Rice Sunday afternoon. He died in a Corsicana hospital Saturday following an extended illness.

He is survived by his wife, four daughters, two sisters, including Mrs. W. M. Harper of Dallas, and other relatives.

On Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, Edward Ray Moore (Eddie), our amazing husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend left this earth surrounded by love.   Eddie was born on September 27, 1939 to Mose Daniel and Lillie Maude Moore in Dallas, TX.

Eddie loved his family, his friends, his dogs and Texas.  He loved traveling with his wife Molly and their friends to wonderful places.  His favorite trip was the African safari.   He was like a kid enjoying all there was to see.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons Kelly and Terry.  After grandchildren came along, they were included in the family outings.  He liked country music, golf (most of the time) and spending time in East Texas feeding the deer.   He had a love for Mexican food (with the occasional margarita), pecan pie and Susan’s blackberry cobbler.  He had a great sense of humor.  He was our rock and the person who kept us grounded in the real world.

Eddie was born and raised in Dallas, TX   He graduated from WW Samuels High School in 1958 and learned the trade that would be his livelihood.  Eddie was a bricklayer and a member of the International Bricklayers Union.  In later years he worked for Job Corps teaching and mentoring young people in the art of bricklaying.

He loved helping kids succeed in life, whether by learning a job skill or playing baseball.  His last job before retirement was as regional director for the International Masonry Union.  Retirement was his favorite job.

He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Molly Moore; son Kelly Moore and his wife Donna: son Terry Moore and his wife Sheila, daughter Elayna Szkrybalo and her husband Daniel; daughter Susan Williams and her husband Scott. Grandchildren Lindsey Alexander and her husband Todd, Kristin Moore, Michael Moore, Luke Moore, Cole Moore, Jacelyn Szkrybalo, Sierra Szkrybalo, Nicole Thompson, Alex Thompson and Chelsey Thompson, several nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Wanda Daniels, brother in law Jack Daniels and his nephew Randy Daniels.

Reverend Wayne Eubank officiating. Mrs. Swanson passed away Saturday, July 23, 2011 in Tyler.

Mrs. Swanson was born October 15, 1940 in Tyler, Texas to the late Graham and Raycene Wyly. She graduated from Tyler High School in 1958 and earned an associate degree from Tyler Junior College. She was a longtime member of the Liberty City First Baptist Church and the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Bettye worked as an Accountant and Bookkeeper for many years. She enjoyed collecting thimbles, crafts, music, and singing. Mrs. Swanson was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Swanson is survived by her husband of 29 years Tommy Swanson of Liberty City; two sons and their spouses Scott and Jody Lancaster of Grand Prairie, and James and Paula Lancaster of College Station; daughter and spouse Sandra and Clarence Dubois of Liberty City, and daughter Carla Riggs of Kilgore; two brothers and a sisterin-law Dan and Sylvia Wyly of Tyler and Jim Wyly of Cedar Creek; grandchildren Ben Lancaster, Clayton Newell, Sabrina Lancaster, Natalie Lancaster, Justin Lancaster, Adina Barnett, Rachel Dubois, Alex Dubois, Jacob Swanson, and Zachary Riggs; cousins Tandy Zorba, Ray Coates, William Coates, Connie French, Sara Harris, Bill

Mrs. Williams died Sunday, Sept. 10, 2006, at her residence. She was born Aug. 30, 1911, in BoisD?Arc to Brown Jasper and Emma Johnson Richardson.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the Gray?s Chapel Church of Christ. She and her husband, Paul H. Williams, owned and operated a grocery store business for 23 years, 17 of which were spent in Montalba. She was a wonderful and loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She helped raise all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Holland Williams; an infant son; a sister, Jessie Mae Rosser; and two brothers, Hugh Richardson and Clyde Richardson. She is survived by her daughters, Jane Williams Patton and husband, Arvil, and Emma Williams Collins and husband, Norman, all of Montalba; a son, Graham Richardson Williams and wife, Toby, of Montalba; a sister-in-law, Louise Williams of Rowlett; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Mr. Williams died Wednesday morning at Palestine Regional Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 21, 1908 in the Bradford community to Chesley Graham Williams and Cora Holland Williams.

Mr. Williams was a member of the Gray's Chapel Church of Christ. He was a merchant and rancher. From 1930 to 1945 he owned and operated the Bradford Store, and in 1945 until retirement he was the owner-operator of the Montalba Store.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Evelyn Carroll; and brother, Clifton Williams.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Clara Richardson Williams of Montalba; daughters, Jane Patton and Emma Collins, both of Montalba; son, Graham Williams of Montalba; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Troy Collins, Travis Collins, Tony Collins, Allen Patton, Jeff Williams, Bradley Williams and Barry Williams.

"Bob" Pickle and Mark Pickle officiating. Graveside services will follow in Cedar Creek Cemetery officiated by Harold Hearn, Charles Lively and Thomas Wear. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Pickle died Saturday in the Cartmell Home for Aged surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 10, 1919, in Palestine to Voyle Carrie Pickle and Annie Pearl Moseley Pickle.

Mr. Pickle was a member of the Court Drive Church of Christ. He was a captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He flew B-26 bombers on 63 missions in the Mediterranean Theatre, receiving numerous medals, decorations and citations.

Mr. Pickle served 40 years in the community as a banker for both Royall National Bank and First National Bank where he served in various roles including president and vice chairman, before retiring in 1985. He also served on the Palestine City Council and for 20 years was on the board of directors of Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Pickle was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Juanita Pickle; and brothers, Cecil Pickle and Voyle Pickle Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva Lively Pickle of Palestine; and children, Thomas A. "Bud" Pickle of Centerville, Robert C. "Bob" Pickle of Palestine, Deborah Ann Mueller of Anchorage, Alaska, Margie Danielle Wear of Fort Smith, Ark., and Mark Pickle of Sugar Land. He is also survived by sister, Ruby Huber of San Bernardino, Calif.; brother, Lem Pickle of Palestine; 23 grandchildren, Brian Pickle, Brad Pickle, Melissa Pickle, Lisa Stutzman, Laura Kinion, Natasha Cox, Michelle Haynes, Jessica Jenks, Tiffani Pickle, Kristopher Pickle, Kristin Mueller, Aron Mueller, Thomas Wear, Michael Wear, Rachel Wear, Caleb Pickle, Joshua Pickle, Nathanael Pickle, Timothy Pickle, Hannah Pickle, Amanda Pickle, Moriah Pickle and Stephen Pickle; eight great-grandchildren, Roman Robinson, Abigail Pickle, Jonathan Pickle, Wesley Stutzman, Wyatt Stutzman, Sara Stutzman, Zachary Kinion and Alexandra Kinion.

4844 Services for Will Mac "Snooks" Harville 72 Murchison are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday in Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home Chapel Athens with Rev. Jody Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Park in Athens.

Mr. Harville died April 9 2002 in an Athens hospital.

The son of Wilburn Alga and Lena McMichael Harville he was born October 15 1929 in Murchison where he had been a lifelong resident. 

He was a retired rancher and avid grower and hybridizer of day lilies and was a member of East Texas Day Lily Society. He was well known for his garden and produced many award winning plants. He was a member of the Murchison City Council.

Survivors include brother and sister-in-law W.A. "Pete" and Kathryn Harville Athens sisters and brothers-in-law Elma Jo and Thomas Asher LaPorte Molly and Eddie Moore Richardson nephews Lynn Harville John Landers Steve Landers Nieces Elayna Szkrybalo Susan Thompson Lisa Harville Leigh Ann Harville Special friends Pat Palmer and Dan Royce Dewalt.

4845 Services for William E. “Bill” Monk, 84, of Palestine, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Palestine City Cemetery with Chaplain Don Stanaland officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Monk died at his home in Palestine on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014.
He was born May 12, 1929 in Navasota, Texas, a son of Joseph Thomas Monk and Lois Elizabeth Cory Monk.

He graduated from Palestine High School in 1946. He played football for Palestine High School and received a football scholarship to TCU. During his youth, he sang for many local weddings and had a local musical radio show.
He moved from Palestine to Kilgore for work and then to Arlington to work for Pritchard & Abbott. Mr. Monk then retired back to Palestine in 1994 where he served his community on the local water board and appraisal district.

Mr. Monk was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife. Wanda Stafford Monk; daughter, Georgia Carol Singleton; grandchildren, Leah Olivares and Benton Olivares; and brother, Joseph Harris Monk and wife Marcilee Wilkinson Monk.

4846 Services for William Jowers "Bill" Rogers, 62, of Palestine will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Pilgrim Cemetery with Judge Bascom Bentley officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Palestine Masonic Lodge No. 31 A.F. & A.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.

Mr. Rogers died Tuesday at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler.

He was born September 22, 1940 in Palestine to the late Moses Mills Rogers and Margaret Louise Flanagan Rogers.

Mr. Rogers was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Palestine Masonic Lodge No. 31 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Mason, Waco Consistory and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lodge No. 8924. He graduated from Palestine HIgh School in 1958.

He was the owner of the Bill Rogers Buick, Pontiac, GMC dealership in Palestine. He also was the former owner of Bill Rogers Chevrolet in Grapeland and had been a dealer with General Motors since 1975.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Ann Trigg Rogers of Palestine; daughters, Leigh Anne Rainer and Tracye Herbrough, both of Palestine; son, Bill Rogers Jr. of Palestine; sister, Pat Rogers of Portland, Ore.; brothers, Jack Rogers of Palestine, Richard Rogers and Tom Rogers, both of Elkhart; grandchildren, Taylor Carnes, Kady Rainer, Kristen Rogers and William Rogers III.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Crutcher, Rayburn Moore, Jim Ulrich, Jay Herrington, Chris Rogers, Patrick Knowles, Billy Mack Ingram, Walter Cook, Tony Dressell Sr. and Bobby Totah.

He is survived by two sons, Allen Emmons of Columbia, Louisiana and Ray Emmons of Harrisonburg, La., three daughters, Mrs. Kate Folden of Bentley, Mrs. Ellen Brimer of Bentley and Mrs. Arler Gore of Tioga and 26 grandchildren. 

The funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm today, Sept 2, 1949 in the First Pentecostal church. Interment will be in the Tioga cemetery under the direction of Hixson Bros. Funeral Home. The body will be at the residence of Mrs. Gore in Tioga.
