    • John Ingram, his wife Mary, and their children John, Jr., Richard, William, and David, all sailed to America from Belfast, Ireland on the ship Prince George. They landed in Savannah, Georgia in December of 1768.

In 1766, the General Assembly of Jefferson County, Georgia passed an act which encouraged settlers to move into the area for a grant of 1,800 pounds sterling each. George Galphin and John Rae put advertisements in the newspapers around Ireland during 1766 telling people about the new country and the town which would be developed. Most Irish people refused to leave their homeland until their passage was to be paid and land laid out for them. Nearly one hundred immigrants arrived on the ship Prince George in December of 1768. They helped form the township of Queensboro.
